How to Take Care of Natural Stone Counters

In order to keep your natural stone countertops looking beautiful forever, a little bit of maintenance is required. Day to day cleaning of your counters can be done using water, and mild soap and blot spills as soon as they happen. Your granite or marble will need to be sealed periodically. If you have a lighter granite, we recommend using a product like DuPont Bulletproof sealer once a year. If you have a darker stone, you should seal your countertops every two to three years. If your countertop is losing its shine, there are ways you can get it back to the original luster! Call or stop into our showroom, and we can help!

Tips to Keep Your Countertops Shining

✔ Do not use abrasive cleaners such as Soft Scrub or Windex. These will dull the shine of the countertops.

✔ Do not use cleaners that contain vinegar, ammonia, or lemon juice.

✔ Do not use cleaners that contain acids such as bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners, or tub and tile cleaners.

✔ Do not cut directly onto granite surfaces. Some knives may be sharp enough to scratch the granite. Always use a cutting board!
